As a software development manager, I've used a number of poker planning and sprint retro tools, and never really found one that clicked with me, so I went ahead and built my own.
SprintBee is live and currently free to use while in beta. I think you'll find it's pretty feature-rich for a v1, with integrations into Jira, Linear and Github. There's even a Chrome extension. There will always be a free tier; long term I may charge for some capabilities, depending on what kind of traction it gets.
So what makes it different? The main things that were important to me were:
- A clean, easy-to-use interface, but still warm and (hopefully) a little fun to use.
- Reducing the friction and administrative overhead so the meeting time can focus on what's actually important. You shouldn't spend most of the time copy-pasting data between tools.
- Embrace remote teams by making it easy to join a room and supporting async or live voting.
- Making sure improvements and action items don't get lost after the meeting ends.
